Drew Young is a keen sailor and contemporary artist based at Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia. His work is deeply influenced by life on the water and the raw textures of the maritime environment surrounding Port Phillip Bay.
Working with reclaimed Kevlar racing sails—once part of high-performance sailing campaigns—Drew stretches and reworks these materials over frames, transforming them into richly textured surfaces that carry the memory of previous races. Through layered paint and surface intervention, he captures abstract seascapes and coastal impressions, merging material history with painterly expression.
His work has been exhibited at art shows across Sorrento, Blairgowrie, and Mornington, and he maintains a permanent gallery presence at both the Mornington Yacht Club and Mount Martha, where sailing culture and coastal life remain central to his practice.
